On September 13th and 14th we were inspected by Ofsted. The report gives a very positive picture of the school, with many aspects to it that we are pleased with. As a staff, we are very pleased with the increased number of grade 2s given, especially for Behaviour and Care, Guidance and Support, which we consider to be essential. There has been a significant improvement in the quality of teaching since the previous Inspection, and although there are variations in the quality of teaching, these are being addressed immediately.

The school had already identified the development of Reading (especially boys) and Maths (especially higher-ability girls) as priorities for the coming year from our own data analysis and evaluations. We are now putting in place action-plans to address these issues.

The Inspection and subsequent report has been helpful in supporting work already begun by our hard-working, enthusiastic and talented staff.

I would like to thank all staff for their hard work in making the Inspection a success – the teachers, the teaching assistants and Learning Mentors, the office staff, the cleaning staff and caretaker, and all lunchtime supervisory staff. My thanks also go to the Governors for their support – especially to Susan Knight (Chair), Shatish Lad (Vice) and Pat Liggins who volunteered for a “grilling” at 7.45am! Everyone contributed to the successful outcome, working together as a team. Thank you all.

I also would like to thank the children, because they were great – in lessons, at playtimes, and when talking with inspectors. Inspectors told me they were “delightful”. Thank you all, boys and girls.

Finally, I would also like to express my appreciation and gratitude to all the parents who either sent back the response forms or who talked with inspectors so positively about the school. That really does mean a great deal to all of us who work at Keresley Grange. Your views and opinions are important to us. Thank you everyone.

So, a very big thank you to one and all!

Now, the work begins to tackle the Reading and the Maths – and these both provide great opportunities for parents to work closely with the school to develop skills in Reading and in Maths. The subject leaders will shortly let you know what we will be doing and how you might help support your child raise their achievement.

It’s an exciting prospect and we are all eagerly looking forward to the challenge.
